Local Government Taxation Replacement

Conference believes that local councils across Scotland should be given greater responsibility to raise their own income and should be given the powers to do so; welcomes recent reforms to ensure those in more expensive properties pay more in council tax; calls on the SNP to renew its 2011 Scottish Parliamentary election pledge to “consult with others to produce a fairer system based on ability to pay to replace the Council Tax"
